Red Phone manages to break down the boundary between artist and audience; it unifies the moments of humanity and the consumption of art. — La Nacion News, Argentina
After travelling the world to critical acclaim, The Red Phone Project lands in Wellington.
Step inside a hand-crafted phone booth with a vintage red phone and teleprompter for an eight-to-fifteen-minute scripted exchange with another “audience member” – who could be family, friend or stranger.
Part theatre, part social intervention, The Red Phone Project transforms the simple act of conversation into performance. Described as the theatrical equivalent of singing in the shower, you’re anonymous and so are they, which makes this playful experience a chance to be both performer and audience.
This is a conversation you won’t forget.
E tomo ki tētahi whare waea i hangaia ā-ringatia ki te kōrero whakaari ki tētahi atu o te “minenga” mō te waru, ki te tekau mā rima meneti – tērā pea he whanaunga, he hoa, he tauhou rānei. Kāore kōrua e mōhiotia, nō reira ka wātea koe i konei ki te noho hei kaiwhakaari, hei kaimātakitaki anō hoki. He kōrero e kore e wareware.
